English I Honors - August 27, 2018

Bell Ringer / Classwork:

Below you will find a link to plot events from Part Time Indian. You are responsible for the following….

  1. Put the plot events in order.
  2. Draw a plot diagram with the ordered plot events in your composition notebook.
  3. Answer the plot questions in your composition notebook. You do not have to write the questions but all answers should be in complete sentences.

Homework: Below is a link to Junior’s depiction of his identity. Junior believes he has two sides. His Indian side and who he feels he is expected to be at his new school.  In Speak Melinda also has two sides. Her inside (outgoing, wants to be involved, and humorous) this is the side she is afraid to let people see and her “outside” who is literally afraid to speak.  Please take time tonight to think about who you are. Complete the Part Time Indian Identity Handout about yourself. Your two sides do not have to deal with race. It could be who you are in school vs. who you are at home. Or who you are with your friends vs. who you are when with your parents. How you split your identity is up to you. Please make sure you have at least five characteristics on each side. Also add personal traits to your drawing ( i.e. hair, clothes, ect.)
